Heather Petit serves as the Administrative Manager for the UConn Health Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Heather previously worked as a Children’s Policy Analyst at the Connecticut General Assembly’s Commission on Women, Children and Seniors, where she worked closely with policy leaders, legislators, and field experts on best practices and policies for children.
Working with or on behalf of children the majority of her professional life, she taught first grade for several years at a private school in New London, worked in the investigations unit at the Connecticut Department of Children and Families as well as working at the Connecticut General Assembly’s Commission on Children. Heather has taught courses on office administration and Microsoft Office at Capital Community College, studied psychology at the University of Connecticut and Charter Oak State College and was co-editor of UConn Avery Point’s student newspaper, The Point.
As a mother of a young daughter, she enjoys working with parents and schools on improving outcomes for children, volunteering in her daughter’s classroom, and spending time with her family.
