Licensure Specific Curriculum/Coursework The basic core areas that are necessary in order to qualify as an equivalent course of study, shall include the following: (1) Marriage and family studies. This area shall include a minimum of three (3) courses (nine (9) semester hours, twelve (12) quarter hours, or 135 didactic contact hours). (2) Marriage and family therapy. This area shall include a minimum of three (3) courses (nine (9) semester hours, twelve (12) quarter hours, or 135 didactic contact hours). (3) Human development. This area shall include a minimum of three (3) courses (nine (9) semester hours, twelve (12) quarter hours, or 135 didactic contact hours). (4) Psychopathology and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. This area shall include a one (1) course minimum (three (3) semester hours, four (4) quarter hours, or forty-five (45) didactic contact hours). (5) Professional studies. This area shall include a minimum of one (1) course minimum (three (3) semester hours, four (4) quarter hours, or forty-five (45) didactic contact hours). (6) Research. This area shall include a minimum of one (1) course minimum (three (3) semester hours, four (4) quarter hours, or forty-five (45) didactic contact hours). Courses may include (a) Statistics; (b) Research methods; (c) Quantitative methodology, or (d) Other courses designed to assist the student to understand and perform research.
Licensure Require Specific Field or Clinical Work? Practicum or internship. The practicum or internship shall include a minimum of one (1) year or 300 hours of supervised direct client contact with individuals, couples, and families for family therapy.
Licensure Dependent on an Exam? The Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Board's (AMFTRB) Examination in Marital and Family Therapy is required.

Licensure Specific Curriculum/Coursework In addition to instruction in scientific and professional ethics and standards, research design and methodology, statistics, and psychometrics, the core program shall require each student to demonstrate competence in each of the following content areas. This shall be met by including a minimum of three (3) or more graduate semester hours (five (5) or more graduate quarter hours) in each of these four (4) areas: 1. Biological bases of behavior, including the subject matters of physiological psychology, comparative psychology, neuropsychology, sensation and perception, and psychopharmacology; 2. Cognitive-affective bases of behavior, including the subject matters of learning, thinking, motivation, and emotion; 3. Social bases of behavior, including the subject matters of social psychology, group process, and organizational psychology and systems; 4. Individual differences, including the subject matters of personality theory, human development, and abnormal psychology.
Licensure Require Specific Field or Clinical Work? Must have had at least two (2) years of supervised professional experience satisfactory to the board, one (1) year of which shall be an internship. Supervisory Requirements for an Applicant for Licensure as a Psychologist. (1) The applicant for licensure as a psychologist with the authorization to provide psychological health care services shall have completed the equivalent of two (2) years of supervised professional experience in accordance with this administrative regulation. (2) One (1) year of the supervised professional experience shall be a predoctoral internship of 1,800 hours with at least 100 hours of supervisory sessions. (3) The other 1,800 hours of supervised experience may be predoctoral, postdoctoral, or a combination of pre-and post-doctoral supervised professional experience acceptable to the board.
Licensure Dependent on an Exam? The national EPPP (Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology) examination at the doctoral level; passing score of 500.

Upon successful completion of the beginning teacher internship, the certificate shall be 1. Extended for the remainder of a five (5) year period; and 2. Renewed for subsequent five (5) year periods upon completion by September 1 of the year of expiration of a. Three (3) years of successful experience as a teacher of communication disorders; or b. At least six (6) semester hours of credit or the equivalent in PSDU's or CEU's, as defined in 16 KAR 8:021. 3. The standard certificate for teachers of exceptional children and youth - communication disorders shall be issued to an applicant who has completed a master's degree in communication or speech-language pathology.
