Licensure-specific coursework Provide transcripts verifying applicant has successfully completed coursework related to the principles and methods of prevention, assessment, and intervention for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders in the following subject areas: (a)Articulation; (b) Fluency; (c) Voice and resonance, including respiration and phonation; (d) Receptive and expressive language in speaking, listening, reading, writing and manual modalities; (e) Hearing, including the impact on speech and language; (f) swallowing; (g) Cognitive aspects of communication; (h) social aspects of communication; and (i) communication modalities, including oral, manual, augmentative, and alternative communication, and assistive technologies.
Licensure Require Specific Field or Clinical Work? The supervised clinical practicum as specified in K.S.A. 65-6505, and amendments thereto, shall be at least 400 hours, 25 of which shall be observed and 375 of which shall be direct client contact. At least 325 of the 400 hours of supervised clinical practicum shall be earned at the graduate level in the area in which licensure is sought.

Degree Level Requirement Masters or Doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy OR a related field which contained coursework considered to be equivalent to the Marriage and Family therapy program.
Licensure specific coursework
  1. Nine semester hours of coursework will be required in each of the following core areas:
    a. Human development and family studies (courses elucidates the interrelationship between interpersonal and intrapersonal factors and includes concepts like gender); b. Theoretical foundations (courses discuss systems theory and the family life cycle. May discuss concepts such as familial response to the birth of a first child and to a death in the family); c. Assessment and therapy in MFT.
  2. Three semester hours will be required in each of the following: a. Research; and b. Professional studies.
Licensure Require Specific Field or Clinical Work? The total amount to be completed over a minimum of 24 months is 3,000 hours of experience, including 1500 hours of direct client contact providing psychotherapy and assessments and 100 hours of supervision. The supervision shall be provided throughout the entirety of the postgraduate supervised professional experience with at least one hour of clinical supervision each week that the supervisee accrues at least 15 hours of direct client contact. Of the 100 required supervision hours, at least 50 hours must be individual, face-to-face supervision. The remaining 50 hours may be done in either group or individual supervision. There can be no more than 6 supervisees in the group. There must be at least two separate supervision sessions per month, at least one of which shall be individual supervision.
